Stop on Reply
Never embarrass yourself by sending a follow-up after someone already replied. Stop-on-reply automatically halts the sequence for contacts who respond.
How it works
When stop-on-reply is enabled:
- A contact replies to any email in the sequence
- WorkOnward Reach detects the reply automatically
- The contact’s enrollment is marked as “replied”
- No further sequence emails are sent to that contact
The reply appears in your Outreach Inbox for you to respond.
Two levels of stop
| Setting | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Stop on reply | Stops the sequence for the individual contact who replied |
| Stop company on reply | Stops the sequence for everyone at that contact’s company |
When to use company-wide stop
If you’re reaching out to multiple people at the same company, you don’t want to keep emailing their colleagues after one person responds. Enable Stop company on reply to halt all enrollments from that company.
Company matching uses the email domain. If [email protected] replies, all other @acme.com contacts in this campaign are stopped.
Configure stop-on-reply
- In the campaign settings, find the Reply Behavior section
- Toggle Stop on reply (on by default)
- Optionally toggle Stop company on reply (off by default)
- Save
What happens to stopped contacts
- Their enrollment status changes to “replied”
- They’re excluded from all future steps in this sequence
- They remain in your contact list (not deleted or unsubscribed)
- The reply is available in your Outreach Inbox with full context
Tips
- Always keep stop-on-reply enabled — Sending follow-ups after a reply is the #1 way to damage your professional reputation
- Use company-wide stop for enterprise outreach — If you’re emailing multiple stakeholders at the same company
- Respond to replies quickly — The conversation is warm. Don’t let it go cold.
