Step by step
- Navigate to Outreach > Templates in the sidebar
- Click New Template
- Enter a template name (e.g., “Cold intro - SaaS founders”)
- Choose a category to keep your library organized
- Write a subject line or leave it blank to add later
- Choose your editor:
- Block Editor — For quick, straightforward emails
- Template Studio — For advanced layouts with sections and themes
- Start building your email
Starting from AI
Instead of a blank canvas:
- Click Generate with AI when creating a new template
- Describe your email goal, audience, and tone
- AI creates a complete template with subject line, body, and structure
- Edit and refine as needed
See AI Template Generation for the full guide.
Template metadata
Every template has:
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Name | Internal label for your reference |
| Subject | Email subject line (supports merge variables) |
| Category | Organization label (e.g., “Outreach”, “Follow-up”) |
| Body | The email content built with the editor |
Tips
- Name templates descriptively — “Q2 cold intro - tech founders” is easier to find than “Template 1”
- Write your subject line last — Craft the body first, then summarize it in a compelling subject
- Save early, save often — WorkOnward Reach auto-saves, but click Save after major changes
