Use Templates in Steps
Combine your best templates into a cohesive outreach sequence. Pull from your template library to build steps faster.
Attach a template to a step
- When adding or editing a step, click Use Template
- The template picker dialog opens, showing your template library
- Browse or search for the template you want
- Select the template
- The step’s subject line and body populate from the template
Template picker
The template picker shows:
- Template name — Your descriptive label
- Subject line — The template’s subject
- Category — Organization category
- Preview — Quick preview of the email content
Use the search bar to filter by name or category.
What gets imported
When you attach a template to a step:
| Field | Imported? |
|---|---|
| Subject line | Yes |
| Email body (HTML) | Yes |
| Builder document | Yes |
| Tracking settings | No — uses step-level settings |
| Wait time | No — set independently per step |
Editing after import
The template content is copied into the step. After import:
- You can edit the step’s content without affecting the original template
- Changes to the original template don’t affect steps that already imported it
- You can re-import to refresh with the latest template version
Tips
- Create templates for common patterns — “Cold intro”, “Follow-up nudge”, “Breakup email” are reusable across many sequences
- Match subject line progression — Make sure imported subjects flow naturally in sequence (Step 1 shouldn’t sound like a follow-up)
- Mix templates and custom — Use a template for Step 1, then write custom follow-ups that reference the initial email
