Custom Fields
Track any data point that matters to your business. Custom fields extend your contact profiles beyond the standard fields, giving you the flexibility to store industry, deal size, lead source, or anything else.
Field types
WorkOnward Reach supports these custom field types:
| Type | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Text | Free-form text | ”Referred by Sarah” |
| Number | Numeric values | 50000 |
| Boolean | True/false toggle | Has demo scheduled: Yes |
| Date | Date picker | 2026-03-15 |
| DateTime | Date and time | 2026-03-15 14:30 |
| Single select | Dropdown with one choice | Industry: SaaS |
| Multi select | Dropdown with multiple choices | Interests: [AI, Analytics] |
| URL | Web address | https://linkedin.com/in/example |
Create a custom field
- Navigate to Contacts
- Click the Fields or settings icon
- Click Add Field
- Configure:
- Label — The display name (e.g., “Lead Source”)
- Key — Auto-generated from the label, used internally
- Type — Choose from the types above
- Options — For select fields, define the available choices
- Click Save
Your new field immediately appears on all contact profiles and in the import mapping options.
Display order
Custom fields appear in the order you configure them. Drag and drop to rearrange, or set the display order number for each field.
Using custom fields
Custom fields are available everywhere in WorkOnward Reach:
- Contact profiles — View and edit on individual contact pages
- Import mapping — Map CSV columns to custom fields during import
- Search and filter — Filter contacts by custom field values
- Personalization — Use custom fields as merge variables in email templates
Pro tip: Create a “Lead Source” single-select field with options like “Website”, “Referral”, “Event”, “Cold outreach”. This makes it easy to track where your best contacts come from.
Tips
- Keep it lean — Only create fields you’ll actually use. Too many empty fields create clutter.
- Use select fields over text when possible — They’re easier to filter and report on.
- Name fields clearly — “Annual Revenue” is better than “Rev” for team clarity.
Next step: Organize contacts with tags and status
