Connect Your First Mailbox
Send emails directly from your real Gmail account for maximum deliverability. Recipients see your actual email address — not a faceless relay server.
Why connect a mailbox?
A connected mailbox lets WorkOnward Reach:
- Send outreach from your real Gmail address
- Track replies so they appear in your Outreach Inbox
- Monitor deliverability with open and click tracking
- Maintain sender reputation by sending from your own domain
Connect via Gmail API (recommended)
The Gmail API gives you full two-way sync — sending, receiving, and thread tracking.
- Navigate to OneBox > Account in the sidebar
- Click Connect Gmail Account
- Sign in with your Google account when prompted
- Grant the requested permissions (read, send, and manage email)
- You’ll be redirected back to WorkOnward Reach with your mailbox connected
Permissions are scoped. WorkOnward Reach only requests the minimum Gmail permissions needed to send and track your outreach.
Connect via Gmail SMTP (alternative)
If you prefer a lightweight connection without full Gmail API access:
- Navigate to OneBox > Account
- Click Add Delivery Account
- Choose Gmail SMTP as the transport type
- Enter your Gmail address and an app-specific password
- Click Test Connection to verify
- Save the account
SMTP is send-only. You won’t get reply tracking or thread sync with SMTP. For full functionality, use the Gmail API connection.
Verify your connection
After connecting, your mailbox appears in the account list with a status indicator:
- Active — Ready to send
- Needs reauth — Your token expired. Click to reauthorize.
- Error — Something went wrong. Check the error message and try reconnecting.
You can test the connection anytime by clicking Test next to your mailbox.
